With the second time in history that the Hawks were granted the no. 1 overall pick in the draft since they moved to Atlanta, the Hawks have selected Zaccharie Risacher for their pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

French forward Zaccharie Risacher averaged 11.3 points and four rebounds in the past season on the JL Bourg team in France. The 19 year old from Lyon, France, originally born in Spain, is expected to perform as a big asset offensively with his long wingspan for the Hawks with his versatility and adjustability, as well as defensively.

Risacher has his mind set to achieve greatness, and with a team that is expected to be in transition with a possible trade with their top players, he will have to make major adjustments with the way the franchise operates in the upcoming weeks.

In a scouting interview, Risacher mentioned that his favorite player to watch is Kevin Durant. However, he also spends considerable time studying a variety of NBA players and their playing styles through highlights. This constant observation helps him develop his basketball IQ. Risacher's smooth shooting mechanics and ability to finish plays will make him a challenging player to defend.

Risacher's ability to move effectively with and without the ball will be a significant asset for the Hawks, contributing to their scoring abilities. Additionally, there will be opportunities for him to improve his free-throw shooting, further enhancing his overall scoring opportunities.

In a recent media availability for the draft, Risacher said that his father (Stéphane Risacher) is his biggest inspiration as he traveled and competed in the sport when Risacher was little.

Risacher and the other prospected No. 1 pick Alex Sarr grew up competing against each other, and now to arrive at New York with the promise of playing in the national league marks a special night for them both.

Known as a talented player overall who has the competitiveness and drive at such a young age, Risacher expressed his excitement in an interview with Monica McNutt following his pick and is ready to get to work in Atlanta.
